Selin Sarioglu
THERAPIST IN TRAINING
Selin is a graduate student pursuing her Master of Social Work at Columbia University, specializing in Advanced Clinical Practice. She was drawn to the field through a longstanding interest in understanding people and the unique stories that shape who they are. Her personal experiences with mental health support sparked her passion for providing others with a safe space for self-exploration.
As a Turkish American raised in New York City, Selin values the role that culture, family, and community play in each person's life. Growing up between two conflicting cultural identities taught her the importance of feeling a true sense of belonging. She believes strongly that everyone deserves to feel understood and accepted in the therapeutic space without judgment. Selin approaches her work with a commitment to trauma-informed, relational care and adapts her practice to the unique needs of each client. She believes that meaningful change begins with a strong therapeutic relationship where clients can feel comfortable exploring their experiences at their own pace.
Selin aims to empower clients to navigate life's challenges with clarity and confidence through warmth and curiosity. Viewing therapy as a collaborative journey, she works with clients to build on their strengths, deepen their self-understanding, and move towards the change they hope to create in their lives. As she continues her clinical training, Selin is dedicated to learning from each client she has the privilege of working with, recognizing that everyone's journey is very different. It is an honor for her to support clients through life's uncertainties and walk alongside them in that process.
A Note From Selin:
Beginning therapy can feel exciting, overwhelming, or even a little uncomfortable, and all of those feelings are welcome. My goal is to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are on any given day, without any pressure to find the โrightโ words. Carrying the weight of life's complexities alone can feel very heavy, and I am here to help lighten that burden. I consider it a privilege to be trusted with your story, and I invite you to share your truth authentically.

Outside of school and work, Selin loves going on walks with her mom at the Brooklyn Bridge Park and updating her about all the things that go on in her life. On the weekends, she enjoys spending quality time with her best friends at different cafes and restaurants around the city (usually Mexican or Japanese food). With the rest of her time, she loves hanging out with her cat, Esco, watching documentaries, and trying new recipes she finds online.
